Echoing his Monumental stage performance for twelve dancers,
Jocelyn Cottencin continues his dialogue with dance by investing today in the practice of warm up. General Warm up was activated for the first time in the of the event May 68 General Assembly from April 28th to May 20th, 2018 at the Centre Pompidou.

Developed from a corpus of warm-ups — writings commissioned from different artists (especially those involved in Monumental) —, General Warm up proposes its appropriation by reading a physical imaginary. Conceived as an editorial project to be activated, the exhibition becomes the hybrid place between documentation and physical practices, and positions the warm-up as a poetic, political and potentially functional material.
Practice times of warm-up scores are offered throughout each exhibition.

The space consists of all the warm-up scores, a wall drawing and a space to activate. The partitions are glued on the wooden plates returning to the cupboards (manifest poster, statements, pasted in the public space). The wall drawing is a figure regularly used by Jocelyn Cottencin as a possibility to circulate between the image and the text, the meaning and the contexts. The title itself contains a multiplicity of readings.
The exhibition space is considered as a place to do practices.

On the occasion of this exhibition at the CCN Montpellier, Crossing published an edition edited and numbered of 50 copies. It consists of 19 warm up scores / manifestos, sketch of the wall drawing and a numbered colophon.
